Hiring

Can I hire a remote accountant in another country?

Short answer

Yes. We support remote accounting and bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online, Xero, Odoo, Nexusaifirst and Zoho, subject to your software setup and secure access arrangements. Choose a provider who knows your country's rules (sales tax, VAT, GST/HST or BAS) and who works alongside your local CPA, chartered accountant or tax agent for filings.

Detailed answer

Check local competence

Remote access is only one part of the arrangement. Your provider should understand your business structure, reporting currency, local indirect taxes and payroll rules. Preparing records does not automatically authorise someone to submit regulated tax returns or represent you before a tax authority; confirm which qualified local professional handles those responsibilities.

Agree secure working arrangements

Use named software accounts, multi-factor authentication and a secure document portal instead of sending bank passwords or identity documents through ordinary messages. Discuss where information is stored, any overseas access, confidentiality, response times and how access will be removed when the engagement ends.

Country differences: rules, thresholds and terminology differ between the US, UK, Australia and Canada. Check the official source for your country below.
