Do I need to deal with provincial sales tax as well as GST/HST?

Short answer

Possibly. Provincial sales-tax systems and Quebec's QST can create obligations separate from federal GST/HST. The applicable registration and collection rules depend on where you operate, what you sell and where customers are located.

Detailed answer

Map your locations and sales

Identify physical presence, customer destinations, products, services and sales channels. Selling online does not remove provincial obligations, and marketplace collection may not cover every direct sale or reporting duty. Use the relevant provincial authority's current guidance in addition to the CRA's federal guidance rather than applying one national registration threshold everywhere.

Keep separate reconciliations

Set up distinct tax accounts and review registrations, invoices and returns for each applicable system. Check place-of-supply rules and whether taxes are recoverable or become part of a cost. Have a Canadian tax adviser review expansion into a new province before updating software rates; automated calculations do not decide your legal registration requirements.
